Frequently Asked Questions

How does a home health aide help someone in daily life?

A home health aide helps with routine tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, light housekeeping, and preparing meals. They also provide companionship and assist with basic mobility needs so that daily life feels more manageable at home.

Can a home health aide give medications or handle medical treatments?

Home health aides can remind someone to take their medications, but they don’t typically give medications or perform medical treatments. Those tasks are usually handled by licensed professionals unless special training and certification are provided.

What should I expect before hiring a home health aide?

It helps to know the person’s needs ahead of time, including mobility challenges, memory concerns, or help with hygiene. This makes it easier for us to match the aide’s experience to what’s most helpful for the person being cared for.

How do I know if my loved one needs a home health aide?

If basic tasks like bathing, eating, or moving around safely are becoming difficult, or if they’re recovering from an illness or surgery, then a home health aide can provide the daily support they need to stay comfortable and secure at home.

Are home health aides trained to handle emergencies?

Yes, aides receive training on recognizing signs of distress and how to respond in urgent situations. In our program, students also learn infection control, safety protocols, and emergency procedures so they’re prepared to act quickly if something happens.
